I have this style hinge. I fixed my underbite after watching a few YouTube videos. After a few times opening and closing the lid the underbite is back. I made sure everything was tightened back up. Appreciate any advice!

I think the advice you’re going to get here is to get the new bands. That said, if the underbite isn’t causing any temperature control issues I wouldn’t worry about it.

I have a slight underbite on mine too and it’s fine. I’ll probably change bands eventually but it’s not a priority.

I’ve the original bands and my BGE has maybe 1/16” – 1/8” underbite after adjustment. I installed a Rutland gasket and not one bit of smoke escapes. I don’t sweat it

Someone suggested to loosen the bolts on the side of the hinge – clamp the big bar and move the hinge where it needs to be – tighten the bolts back. I have not tried this yet.

I’ve had my BGE since 2011. My hinge finally gave out on me last week. It survived a table fire. I even had it powder coated a couple of years back. The underbite came back practically immediately after the adjustment. I bit the bullet($322 CDN)and bought the new hinge. I missed the delivery yesterday and am now eggless for the weekend. I figured after 14 years it was time.
