What is this? I think it came from the hatch chiles. Feels hard and thin like fish spines

Made some salsa with the HEB roasted hatch chiles. Then I felt like I bit into a fish spine. At first I thought it was chicken feathers from the rotisserie chicken I ate with the salsa, but then I noticed it had charred patterns similar to the roasted hatch chiles.

Was I supposed to clean it or something before using?
