Egg Island completed. The frame is 1 1/2 18 gauge square tube welded. The drawers were simple 3/4" sliding on ply wood runners. The top and egg stand platform are edge glued cedar boards. The drawer fronts and siding were cut from 2 4X6 exterior panels I picked up at Menards. I attached them to the frame with Riv-Nuts. Easily disassembled if needed. The paint was matched at Ace, who also sells eggs. Drawer pulls are wrought iron found online. The wife thought it needed a new egg handle and chose this. I did the main design with Sketchup. I'm still learning to use that, but it worked out pretty well.

  1. Looks great! If i may, you will still need a heat shield (paving stone?) Under the stand.

The heat from the bottom will be too much for wood to handle and will slowly dry out and turn into a fire hazard.

Ive seen many posts on the Born To Egg FB group of people’s tables and decks start on fire because of this.

You need a ceramic tile underneath the egg. You will burn the base board
