    For £1.00 that actually looks alright!

  2. My niece came for a sleepover and she didn’t want a takeaway but instead she asked me to cook her dinner.

    I said on the way over goto the shop and buy whatever you want for dinner and she grabbed two of these, some veg and some potatoes.

    I was expecting them to be absolutely awful but for £1 they were actually great value.

  3. Used fresh broccoli, Morrisons frozen mash (I recommend – it takes 3 mins and tastes great) and Tesco Low Salt Gravy Granules (best gravy granules I’ve found, needs some pepper imo, but decent stuff).

    In total it cost just over £2:

    * Toad in the hole £1
    * Broccoli 35p
    * Mash 64p
    * Gravy 7p

    Yeah people look down on Iceland but it’s cracking. They do quite a few £1 meals like this, and they’re surprisingly nice and a decent portion size.

    The £1 spaghetti bolognaise is decent aswel

  6. HeyU_inTheBushes

    My son loves this . It sometimes sticks to the bottom of the tray but he still makes me buy them .

  7. I walk right past that one every time. Maybe it’s finally time to give it a go!

    Yeah to be fair Iceland frozen range are actually surprisingly good.

    You can’t fault Iceland on the Greggs sausage roles and steak bakes etc.

    Their £1 pizzas/Cheesy Garlic bread are also very good. TBF the entire £1 range is fine (lasagna, chicken curry w rice) They are only 90p on a Tuesday if you 1.are over 60 2. Work in NHS (blc) 3. Report a shoplifter. Way too much bad mouthing and snobbishness associated with a decent store.

  11. Not intended as a knock but that looks just like the Toad in the Hole we got in the jail. Along with the haggis and the fry-up on Saturdays, it was one of the meals I most looked forward to.

  12. Yeah they’re legit good for a £1. Can’t go wrong

  13. Linkbetweentwirls

    Nothiing wrong with the £1 Iceland meals, this and the curry n Rice are lovely

  14. Just had a look on their website at all the £1 or under products. How are they able to sell things so cheap? Is the quality terrible? For example 2 battered fish fillets for £1. You’re looking at about £3.50 in ASDA. What’s the difference?

  15. Rab_Legend

    Sausages in Yorkshire pudding batter, I think its quite difficult to fuck up to be fair. Sausage meat is cheap, and Yorkshire batter is cheap – perfect for frozen meals

  16. I enjoy these but I flip it halfway to crisp the other side. It’s a banging hangover meal.

    Most of the Iceland quid range is decent tbh. If you haven’t tried the quid chicken curry pasties, give them a bash. They’re banging.

    Bald foodie guy on YouTube reviews all these types of things
    Some of it’s shocking but some really decent value !

  18. theNixher

    I’m loving these ready meal reviews, you lot are sifting through the shit ones so I don’t have to.

  19. SoggyWotsits

    You’d struggle to make it yourself for a quid.

  20. peroporroporro

    with how frugal I am I’d eat this every day but surely this is a cancer speedrun as it’s upf, no?

  21. Creepy_Definition972

    Yea it’s good for a £1 the £1 section ain’t bad

  22. Chubby_Yorkshireman

    Put gravy on anything and it will taste nice

  23. Dragon_Sluts

    £1 is nothing for that so fair play for them producing something half decent and at a fair price.

    I’d expect some places with sell a marginally better product for 5x that.

  24. greasykiwi

    I have no idea why but the value brand toad in the holes are always amazing no matter the supermarket. Might be the same producer.

  25. Whithorsematt

    I don’t normally shop at Iceland, but for a quid that looks pretty good.
