I’d say you’re being wise and realistic. Enjoy the setup.

Don’t have to spend thousands to enjoy and make good coffee. Enjoy in good health!

  3. Espresso-Newbie

If you’re happy with the results then that’s all that matters !!!

That is exactly my son’s set-up. Good grinder. He’s trained himself on the nuances of the DeLonghi pump. He makes very tasty coffees and didn’t have to sacrifice to get it

  5. Hey-ThatsNotBad

That’s a solid budget setup. I really hope you enjoy it!

If you’re getting satisfying shots that none of that matters.
    Enjoy!

How’s the frothing going? I just got the same machine. Great espresso but I can’t get the frothing to work. I have removed the metal sleeve

  8. I have that model, or at least something very close to it. It’s underrated. If you do single shots and use a dark enough roast you can get decent espresso out of it with a good grinder.

I’d say you’re realistic for your budget and needs.

I’ve been running a Breville Dual-Temp Pro since 2017 and a Smart Grinder pro since 2020 and I get a perfect 1:2 shot. I’ll run those machines until they die.

Of course I’m envious when I use my in-law’s ECM but at home I’m never upset about my espresso.

I have pulled some great shots on mine! I have only recently started to transition towards manual espresso with the Neo flex, so now it’s primarily used for steaming

Looks like you’re into good coffee to me.

  12. If you enjoy what you’re drinking, it doesn’t matter. My whole set up cost less than £200 ($270) and I love what I make each day.

Would your perception change if you had different equipment?

I’m always more impressed by a well-considered budget set up than a deluxe splurge. That said, I wouldn’t mind some of the fancy stuff.

It’s perfect. Hot bean water doesn’t need billionaire toys.

You can make excellent coffee with this setup. The affordability of it is its key feature, as it will “pay itself off” faster than more expensive gear.

I already had that Delonghi and updated it by purchasing a replacement steam lancet from another brand on Amazon. With a tutorial on YouTube and that’s it. It was a total game changer. Then I bought a naked portafilter (51mm) and my espresso changed forever. It was a wonderful 5 years before the rubber on the groupset went bad and I couldn’t find replacement parts that would work.

Does it taste good? If so, then you’re all set.

  19. It presses hot water through nicely ground coffee. I’d say you are good.

  20. Infamous-Stoner

10/10 would make café-beating coffee with this

  21. I bought one as a backup for when my main espresso machine is down for repairs.

Chop the bottom of the portafilter to make it naked. Temp surf and you’ll get great shots.

Poor. All of those are well below average homeowner quality standards.

I have that same model, my folks gave it to me because they don’t use it. I wish I knew how to use it the most effectively. I just use Lavazza ground coffee and try and guesstimate how much I should let it pour to equal one shot

  24. Character_Dog_8179

Grinder is really good for the the price, it punches well above it.

looking good tbf! enjoy the brews 😀

i have that model, i got it from ebay new for $50 total. then i got an upgraded basket and tamper. its a solid machine, id be hard for me to make a better shot unless i dropped some serious money, at the end of the day its just a pump and a water heater, it either works or it doesn’t
