As the title says, I cooked my first tomahawk. Dry brined for two days, smoked it till 110 degrees then gave it a nice hot sear. Used a Weber 22 inch grill.

Even raw that was a good looking steak. I would eat the hell out of that

Outside is great. Inside is overdone.

It’s a nice medium. Very good looking crust. Good job.

    Looks delicious

I think it you cut the dry brine down to 12 hours and cook down by a couple of minutes you’d have a prefect steak

Id be happy enough if my first tomahawk looks like that

  9. Did you get the internal temp you were looking for? I know Folks over here are saying it’s overdone but I think one thing that can make a big changes. Is it still tender even if it’s more done than someone may like.

Curious if this was a grass fed beef… From the redness of the meat…

I would cook it a bit more. I like a nice glaze on my steak med rare but that’s a fine looking steak. Congrats

Too well done for me, but the crust is nice. I don’t smoke meat at all, so not sure if the big grey band is just smoke ring, because the interior is a nice medium rare color. What was the internal temperature?

Crust looks 10/10 perfect – maybe the smoke is putting in some work there, hard to say from photos

Temperature is past where I prefer it but that’s more preference than anything else.

The grey band isn’t bad, a little better than what’s typical for me.  8/10

Probably 9/10 objectively, 7.5/10 adjusted for my temperature preference

  14. Yum! Looks good to me! (I usually go a shade or two redder but would enjoy that for sure!)

How did you temp it? Because it looks a bit over to be pulled at 110. Maybe just the pic.
