A soup that tastes like fine dining – but it’s only 175 kcal and 11 g protein per bowl even without protein toppings!
Today we’re making Yayla Çorbası – a traditional Turkish yogurt soup with mint. Light, creamy, refreshing, and so satisfying – this is the kind of recipe that makes weight loss easier and more enjoyable.

Soups are my secret weapon: they fill you up, hydrate your body, and keep your meals exciting. This one is perfectly balanced with protein, healthy fats, collagen, and a fresh mint aroma. And the best part? You can turn it into a complete lunch by adding grilled chicken, shrimp, or my protein waffles on the side.

Ever tried a soup that tastes like it came straight out of a groomer restaurant, but it’s actually low in calorie, high in protein, and a weight loss hack? Well, today I’m making my absolute favorite Turkish yogurt soup with mint that is called Yila Chery. It’s creamy and refreshing and rich in protein and so so unique that once you try it, you’ll wonder how you lived without it. And the best part, it keeps you full without loading you with calories. Soups are honestly one of my secret weapons when it comes to the weight loss. They fill your stomach, keep you hydrated, and when they are this flavorful, it feels like you’re dining in a fancy restaurant while still heating your macros. Let’s cook it together. It only takes 20 minutes. So, I start with 50 g of rice. It’s about a/4 cup. Well, in Turkey, this is a traditional way because yaya cherbasi is translated like shepherd soup, so it needs to be very filling. But to make it more microfriendly, I cut the amount of rice just a little bit to save the body and satiety, but to give us a little bit more of a flexibility in terms of calories. For some reasons, you are against using rice. Well, you can go for more protein swaps. For example, quinoa, lentils, or white beans. But for the taste though, for me, rice is the winner. So, I add rice to the pot with one liter. It’s four cups of a bone broth. And it already has all the spices, the salt, the pepper, and everything in it. If yours don’t add the seasonings and you can go for any kind of broth or stock you like. You can go for vegetable, chicken, anything. Just a plain water will work. So, simmer everything for 10 to 15 minutes until the rice softens. Meanwhile, let’s prepare the creamy base. That’s where the magic begins. We’re going to need two yolks. Well, you can save the whites and use them for my chocolate roll cake. It’s 90 g of a protein and I don’t remember but it’s well it’s very cheap in calories so try it for yourself. I’m pretty sure that you’ll love it. Uh next I’m adding 100 ml of water to loosen everything a little bit and 10 g and 1 tbsp of flour. Or for microfriendly soap you can go for soy protein, dry milk powder, casin or even quart teaspoon of gum. It will save you a little bit more of calorie and add a little bit more of a protein. But I’m trying to keep with the original recipe where I can just just cutting the amount of well calorie dense products. So let’s whisk everything until smooth and then add 600 ml plain drinkable yogurt. Mine has 50 calories and 3.5 g of protein per 100 ml. [Music] So here is a trick. Slowly temper the mixture with a few lets of hot broth while whisking so the yogurt and the egg won’t curdle. So when the rice is soft, lower the heat and pour in the yogurt mix. Stir everything gently and simmer just for 3 minutes. [Music] [Music] The base for the soup is basically ready. Now for the star flavor, I chop a big batch of fresh mint and warm it with one teaspoon is 5 ml of olive oil until the oil becomes a little bit greenish and fragrant. You can also use 1 tbsp of dried mint. Then stir it into the soup. Well, this recipe makes four to five serving. Each serving per bowl will be 175 calories and 9 to 10 g of protein depending on your yogurt. But here’s my trick. I add a protein toppings. This soup is very good with any sources of protein you can imagine. It is very good even without any proteins at all. But with proteins, it’s kind of a complete meal. 100 or 150 grams of a grilled chicken breast or turkey or maybe shrimps. Or guys, if you happen to have a little bit of my protein bagels made from the cottage cheese or my cottage cheese and chicken buffles, they are so good. They are amazing. They are very good as a swap for bread to just dip in because ya chasi in Turkish. This is a kind of a shepherd’s soup and it is supposed to be eaten with bread, but I’m not a huge fan of bread with soups. Uh, but my low calorie and high protein swaps for bread, such as my chicken waffles or protein cott cheese bagels, are very good here. So this way you will turn this light soup into a full micro brand slunch with over 30 g of protein and still under 300 calories. Today I will serve it with a Mediterranean turkey meatballs on the side. And if you need a recipe, by the way, please drop me a comment. And now let’s try it together. [Music] It’s unreal. And the most precious thing is that when you are trying to realize the textures, the flavors, and everything is kind of surrounds you, and then bum, somewhere in the backdrop, you notice that minty notes, and it’s so good. It’s so incredible. Guys, let me know in the comments. Do you like soups? Are you interested in trying this kind of a soup? I’m very curious. Please let me know in the comments. 1. I don't like seeing such an unhealthy before and after 😢 us women are meant to have a bit of softness for health. Your before was so slim, soft, and beautiful.

  2. Mediterranean turkey meatballs – yes, please! We would love the recipe. Thank you for this cheering and sustaining recipe content. 🙂 I LOVE soup. In my case, I have to go a little lower in carb even than you, thanks to blood sugar issues in the family, but don't believe in skipping too many calories or nutrition. So I would use more egg yolks (for thickening) and just 2T. rice. And more meatballs, haha! Again, thank you. You are a lovely person, inside and out.<3

  3. I love soup and this looks amazing! The mint would be delicious but I will probably use dill because I’m German. I am excited to watch how you accomplished your recomposition body.

  4. I’ve made it yesterday!!!!! It was DELICIOUS!!! Thanks for this amazing recipe!!! Really super quick and unique!!!! My entire family now demands it on a daily basis 😅
