Salt Hank’s – whose tried it, and what do you guys think? Is a one-sandwich menu sustainable, is it hype, is it social media, is it high quality / good (setting price point aside which accounts for staff, rent, etc in addition to the food). I tried going 2 other times but today I got in and didn’t have to wait long – arrived 11:15 to a line, which tripled by the time they opened. Got in to order at the counter by 12 pm and got my food 10-15 minutes later at a table. What I especially liked was that all the textures were there, nothing was too salty or too sweet from the caramelized onions (even the fries were crunchy but not drenched in salt). The aioli was garlicky but also creamy and subtle, and the beef flavor wasn’t masked with overpowering seasoning or overdone. The meat and au jus had a pleasant beef essence that comes from high quality ingredients allowed to shine through on their merits, and everything around that including cheese, onions, bread, sauce served to complement harmoniously without assertion or altering of the balance of flavors and mouthfeel that shines through from the prime rib. What do you guys think?
