Trying this again! When I moved to Chicago back in the mid 1990s, it seemed like there were tons of neighborhood hamburger/hot dog joints all over the city. Just about every neighborhood had more than a few. Some examples are Stella's at Irving Park and Leavit, Regina's under the Irving Park Brown Line station, Mangi's at Lincoln and Grace. Some of the still exist, such as 35th Street Red Hots, Byron's, Redhot Ranch, but so many of the small places just seem to have quiety disappeared.

I am now trying to find some of these places that still exist. I am looking primarily for your general "mom and pop" fast food place. I am not looking for bars that serve food, so not places like Kuma's Corner. I have nothing against them and actually enjoy them quite a big. But when I first moved here my now late brother was always taking me around to these small corner places.

So, with all of that being said, what places are still around? When you want some simple, good fast food, where do you go?
