Shoppers might have noticed that Christmas stock is already starting to fill shelves on the high street. As well as retailers like Home Bargains already putting out decorations and trees, supermarket shelves are starting to look festive.

This week, Waitrose has launched its Christmas product launch for the year seeing over 665 products. As well as many returning from last year there will be over 267 new products.

Some of their unique and trendy bites include the Waitrose mince pies with limoncello and the ‘no.1 stuffed Scottish salmon’ with prawns and salsa verde vrizzle.

For meat options there is the Waitrose ‘No.1 free range turkey bauble with festive stuffing’, slow cooked British beef shin with bone marrow; or spiced, sweet-cured British gammon with black cherry glaze.

There are plenty of vegetarian options too with the Waitrose no.1 mushroom, Malbec & port wellington, offering a rich and savoury blend of chestnut, portobello, and pulled shiitake mushrooms in a malbec and port sauce or the cauliflower cheese galette crown.

For side dishes shoppers can find the the Waitrose no.1 stuffing balls with bacon, smoked chestnuts & sage or shoppers can even find no.1 wagyu beef dripping Yorkshire puddings.

Desserts include the no.1 nutcracker dessert; trend-driven pistachio meringata, a bright and zesty Sicilian lemon & mascarpone delice, and triple chocolate snowflakes.

Waitrose also has a range of party food described as nostalgic party favourites which all all cooks at the same temperature in the oven for easy hosting.

Emilie Wolfman, Trend Innovation Manager said: “We’re seeing customers embrace nostalgic food options, such as vol au vents, more than ever as part of a resurgence of retro and comfort foods.

“Many are turning to these foods as they’re associated with nostalgic memories and childhood joy, from reigniting iconic moments from the 70s and 80s with vol au vent recipes, or tucking into classic and trusty comfort foods such as toasties this festive season.”

Other side bites include the British no. 1 wagyu Bresaola, no. 1 partridge in a pear pâté, featuring roasted pear pieces and oak-smoked chestnuts and for a fun festive twist the pigs in blanket Scotch eggs and pigs in blanket quiche.

There are also cheeses, mince pies and festive drinks to complete your festive food shop.

The Waitrose Free From section also has a range of option including the salted caramel hazelnut brownies, cranberry and orange blondies and cranberry and Sicilian orange all butter shortbread.

This Christmas there are also nine exclusive dishes available on the Waitrose Entertaining website including Angela Hartnett’s Italian stuffed duck, Rick Stein’s lobster & prawn pithivier and Michel Roux’s beef fillet wellington.
