As the new semester starts up, collegiate dining teams across the country are welcoming new and returning students, faculty and staff with back-to-school events and feasts to show off food that’s way better than just “mid.”
That welcome back energy can really rev up when different campus events build excitement all in the same time frame.
Texas State Dining, powered by Chartwells Higher Ed, tapped into the welcoming spirit of barbecue with the Welcome Back BBQ, which drew a record-breaking crowd of more than 1,800 students, up 42% from last year. A nearby block party at the soccer fields helped beef up the crowd, who enjoyed a BBQ bonanza.
“Having the two events on the same night generated an incredible amount of synergy,” Senior Director of Marketing and Guest Experience Whitney Villarreal said. “Our partners at the Division of Housing and Residential Life create great programs to help students transition to college life. We serve them nutritious and flavorful food in engaging environments to enhance their college experience.”
