What kind of question is that. You’ll have to go find out.

Do they have a papery husk on them?

I can tell you that canned tomatillos are definitely dehusked.

  3. I’ve always bought them loose with husks still on

They are always in the husk when I’ve seen/bought them — usually $.99 – $1.49/lb.

  5. Those are going to be a lot more expensive because of the packaging. Even buying from Instacart with their markup ends up quite a bit cheaper.

So if you can find where you can pick and choose, you’ll save.

That image is pre-husked. I’ve always bought them loose with the husk on.

You can tell by eyeing a tomatillo whether it has a husk or does not have a husk. The husk is the papery shell on the outside. If it’s missing, then it’s been husked. Supermarkets can have either variety.
