But it doesn’t save any energy at all… The dishwasher heating element must remain on for longer to keep the recirculating water at the required temperature, because of the heat lost in the process of heating those jars. What’s more, the space occupied by those jars of food displace silverware that needs washing anyway.
This is just moving the energy that would have been used by an oven or stove, to the dishwasher.
