Hey y’all. Welcome back to the Shabby Shack. Let’s make some fried pickles. So, in my bowl, I have one cup of self-rising cornmeal and 1/4 cup of self-rising flour mixed together. We’re going to be using some buttermilk and some dill pickle chips. So, I’m going to pull my dill pickle chips out and put them on a paper towel and kind of pat some of the vinegar off of them. And the reason that I’m doing this is so they don’t have too much of a twang or too much of a salty taste to them. So, I’m going to get me out a nice little pile here. Put them on this uh paper towel. Spread them out and just dab them off. Now I’m going to pour a little buttermilk in the bowl in this other bowl that I can drop the dill pickles down into. I’m just going to mix them around, get them coated with the buttermilk good, and then they’re going to go into the flour and cornmeal mixture. And this is enough flour and cornmeal that you can make a really large batch. Okay, now that we have them battered, I’m dropping a little grease so you can a little flour into the grease so you can see how it dances when the oil is hot enough. I’m going to drop these pickles into the oil now. And it’ll take about 1 minute at most for these to fry up. I’m doing a small batch. Okay, I’ve let these cook until they’re golden brown. Now it’s time to take them up out of the oil. We’re going to drain them on a paper towel. And guys, the way we serve these here in the South is with some ranch dressing to dip them into. Hope you’ll make them and I hope you enjoy.
