This was my first year growing Black from Tula and they WAY exceeded any expectations I had. I started it from seed a month too early, put it in the ground under a water wall back in April in 6a, it was snowed on, grew nearly 8 feet, broke the trellis and spilled to the ground and is still going strong. The fruit are smaller globes, rich in flavor with a tart taste similar to a black cherry tomato. The color is pretty, more a green shoulder with maroon skin and flesh. I would definitely recommend trying this one. Especially in colder climates.
I made tomato preserves from the Ball Complete Book of Home Preserving, and the color is still incredible!

So good to know! It was on my short list of tomatoes to grow next year. I keep wondering if I should re-grow a bunch of varieties that did well this year, but I have to leave room for something new. Thanks for sharing your take!
Beautiful!! I must try next year.
I grew this one this year but didn’t have nearly as good results as you did. Still got some delicious dark tomatoes though, some quite large
I love Black from Tula! Yours look fantastic!
What a great idea to make preserves from them! I grew Black from Tula this year for the first time. They were delicious and productive. I plan to grow them again next spring. NE Texas.
