Chocolate cake isn’t my usual go-to, but it’s my partner’s favorite, and I promised I’d make something "extra chocolaty"
The sponge is a mix of black cocoa and regular Dutch-process cocoa, with sour cream and boiling coffee for funsies.
The filling was a happy little accident—I had some leftover condensed milk salted caramel, so I melted it with dark chocolate and double cream to make this ridonkulous fudgey frosting.
For the crumb coat & the cake dam? I used up some milk chocolate ganache I already had on hand (waste not, want not and what not).
Then I finished the whole thing off with my go-to fudge buttercream.

I’ve looked for it everywhere. It was so yummy, soft and cocoa-y without the aftertaste of buttercream. Not oversweet and had actual flavor.

Looks soooo yummy but you lost me at ‘ boiling coffee’. I love chocolate with a passion and hate coffee with a similar passion. It’s so disappointing to me when I take a big bite of some delicious looking chocolate only to taste coffee.
