I recently got the subscription for butcherbox, they had a good deal and I caved in.
Got my first box and the steaks are .. underwhelming
They are ripped, with holes in them and very very thin..
Is this normal? In pictures they were showing Costco steaks..

Butcher Box is grass fed?
Looks like they source their meat from overturned rendering trucks on Australian highways.
Edit: but seriously, what is the draw to services like this? Is it because your local markets have shit for selection and/or quality, what? Or cost?
Edit 2: 👇
[Interesting thread over on the ButcherBox sub](https://www.reddit.com/r/butcherbox/s/zpm6jal13Y)
I have yet to see a good picture from a satisfied customer of Butcherbox.
Every single time it looks like cuts of meat that even Walmart and Kroger wouldn’t sell.
Love me a good raw steak op 😋
Epic post
Find a local butcher and quit buying that overpriced BS
Glued steak
Thought i was on a different sub there for a second…
Get ready for 25% of the meat packaging to be opened or damaged upon arrival.
It’s same crap you get at grocery store packed different, looks like choice grade. They often call this “restaurant grade”. Find a local farm; many farmers will have healthy, grass fed/grass finished antibiotic/hormone free animals. They sell locally and don’t pay for the certification processes needed to put all that on a sticker.
I’ve bought from butcher box before and other similar brands. I can 100% say the stuff I buy from the farmer is better and cheaper. Even my 3year olds can tell the difference.
Going solely on other posts I’ve seen on this sub, it’s usually worse
They are horrible
All of these mail order dinner/grocery boxes are a rip off. Start going to the store people! Your life is not that busy I’m sorrry.
Lol, wtf is this trash? You pay extra for this????
What cut is this suppose to be anyway?
Thanks everyone for educating me..
It was supposed to be premium ribeye..
I cancelled the subscription and will just buy my steaks from Costco
The gas station lasagna of steaks.
Yup. If you want ok steaks go to the grocery and if you want good steaks you have to go to the butcher.
