We need more ” a banca” or at the bar/window single shot espresso culture in the US. That was always so refreshing in Italy when visiting to pay less at the bar and be in and out super quickly.

This is Fellini coffee on the UWS if I am not mistaken and the coffee actually sucks. I can and have gotten better espresso in a Starbucks

I live in Seattle, the (second) closest Starbucks to me is their HQ Reserve.
It’s a legitimately good coffee shop. You can tell the people know their way around coffee, the coffee they serve is actually quite good. You can get a decently brewed espresso shot, you can get a great pour over.
What kills me is that this is the same company that does coffee-inspired milkshakes. They know how to make good coffee, _they just choose to be shit on purpose_.

Problem with that is that 90% of what I’ve personally seen being ordered in US starbucks stores locations is barely coffee adjacent. Starbucks has normalized the sale of milkshakes, slushies and other sugary drinks under the umbrella of “coffee drinks”, when in fact it’s just sugar based bullshit.
