I’m all for letting people drink what and how they want. I take issue with the mental imagery of what the work evokes, but I suspect this may be down to the individual. When I hear the word soup I think of chunks, noodles, stews, lentils, etc and I don’t want that in my coffee haha

Soup? What’s the context?

Making a meme will definitely stop the soupers.

Is that different than a turbo shot? I really don’t want to watch a whole video, what’s the short version?

Every time I see a lance video I avoid it like the fucking plague.

I’m at a loss with all of Lance’s recent stuff. My gut says the guy just doesn’t like espresso all that much.
Like, I am all for getting delicious results at the cost of convention. And I have no doubt you can get some tasty coffee with these methods but… It really can’t be more than marginally different from aeropress or even mokapot type brews.
I even see the vision with turbos. I accidentally made turbos my default for myself before I knew what they were because I was getting good results with a slightly coarser grind size since I am generally doing 1:2.5 – 1:3 ratios, but the pressure is still reaching 7-9 bar. Isn’t the pressure kind of the point of buying the stupid expensive machines?

It’s weird, in some countries of europe it’s quite normal to push ~200ml of coffee out of a double shot in around 30s. We call it cafe crema. Usually medium roast commodity beans.

lol I caved and bought the oxo two weeks ago.. I hate to say it but I’m impressed.
Its consistency between brews is pretty incredible.. I’m getting jammy flavor, fuzzy mouth feel, and lots of weird looks from my wife, but this thing has exceeded all expectations I had for it.

I’ve been drinking it and loving it. I think it’s happening
I’ve tried it on my flair and it’s pretty good, but you need to prefer a fruity light roast. The main benefit for me is that it’s way easier to dial in, so it reduces waste for expensive coffees

Speak for yourself man.
I am all soup now.

I agree. I have no need to make content so I’m happy pulling and drinking doubles.

I have an ORB and have made a couple of soup shots. They’re definitely unique and interesting. But I found that i missed the extra bite of espresso. I think because of the strength of them, my brain is expecting espresso and they come across as a bit limp.
I’ve also struggled with temperature, they come out luke warm.

Nah soup is fucking fire.
Pretty sure people that are against it are just butthurt that they spent $1k+ on an espresso machine just to have a $40 plastic pump make better light roasted brews.

I’ve done it a few times with an aeropress and enjoyed it, now I’m debating getting the Oxo but I don’t really need it.
