Is the 8 oz per serving before or after cooking? Surely I’m cooking the entire casserole as one unit so wouldn’t be measuring anything until after cooking. I know usually you always weigh before but in this case it doesn’t make sense. Does the weight account for before or after cooking?

    It’s always before unless it says X Calories (As Prepared) which you will generally only see when it gives detailed cooking instructions and things to add to the meal (like cake mixed will have as prepared calories counting the eggs and milk ECT)

    It’s like how a quarter pounder patty weighs WAY less when you actually get it at a restaurant because the measure it precooking.

    Weigh before cooking so you know how much there is in total. Then weigh after so you know how much weight was lost. Then weigh your serving and do the math.

    Weigh it (in ounces) uncooked (in the pan is fine), divide by 8 to see how many 8 ounce servings there are. Weigh it cooked (also in the pan), divide that by the number of servings you got in step 1, and that’s the cooked weight serving.
