First time in Mosel and Pfalz and all I can say is I wish I’d brought a second wine suitcase with me because damn did we have a good time!

I was really surprised at the style of wines in Pfalz. The few wineries we went to had a much more austere style than I was expecting. The winery workers also basically all said the same thing which was “Pfalz is taking itself much more seriously and is the only good region left in Germany and is 20+ years ahead of the others” which I disagreed with. I genuinely liked the Trocken rieslings we had in Mosel, it was really cool to get to try something other than the standard sweet ones you see over here at the stores.

Also that JJ Prum is life changing. I wish we could have gotten in for a full tasting, but having this by the glass in Bernkastel at the Rieslinghaus was a great consolation.

What was your itinerary like? My wife and I had a wonderful time in Alsace and I’m trying to convince her we should hit Germany next time we go to Europe. Work with importers like Opici for Prum and such, but I’d need some other fun beautiful places to go in betweeen tours.

Those look really good. I’ve also had some nice wines from the Ahr region.

Oh man, the Mosel stole my heart when I did a bike trip along it from Trier to Koblenz. My favorite town was Trittenheim. They had a red wine there that to this day is my favorite. Absolutely amazing region.
