I’d be interested in the recipe, for sure!

Some places in Buffalo still offer it. On a related note, those are the places I get Indian food from.

You can find it, usually only if they do a Thali, which is also really hard to find.

Before COVID there was a buffet near me that had several chutneys, onion was one of those.

You can also find it jarred in Indian grocery stores, not all but if they have lots of chutneys it’ll be there.

Indian buffets have been so dumbed down for the American ‘palate’ it’s rarely worth it now. If a new Indian place opens up in your area, it’s pretty great for the 1st 2 weeks, after that, good luck.

Kids these days and their non-red onion chutneys.

World’s a big place, where have you checked? I don’t think I’ve ever seen an onion chutney offered at Indian places in my state. Typically I see a mint and a tamarind, and that’s been standard since I first went to one ~2008

We still get them in restaurants in Scotland, but the portions are smaller (come on, how much does it cost, really?). I always neglect to make these at home even though I cook a lot of Indian food. My new chapati maker arrived yesterday, might as well christen it in style. Yum! 😋
