Each week, we closely monitor updates from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) to bring you the latest news regarding food recalls and safety alerts. Here are seven recalls that were initiated during the first two weeks of September that you should know about.

Middlefield Original Cheese Co-Op Cheese Prodcuts

On Sept. 5, Middlefield Original Cheese Co-Op of Middlefield, Ohio, announced a recall for several varieties of cheese due to potential Listeria contamination. The recall was initiated after Listeria monocytogenes was found in the products and on the surfaces of the cutting equipment. The products were sold in Ohio, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Texas between July 7 and Aug. 14 through distributors, dining halls, and retail stores.

The affected products include:

At this time, no illnesses have been reported. However, if symptoms emerge, individuals are encouraged to contact their healthcare provider immediately. Listeriosis may be more severe for older adults, those with weakened immune systems, and pregnant individuals.

Good & Gather Southwest-Style Burrito Bowl Blend

On Sept. 10, One Frozen, LLC issued a voluntary recall of Good & Gather Southwest-Style Burrito Bowl Blend in frozen 12-ounce bags. Certain lots were found to contain shrimp that is not declared on the product label, posing a risk for those who are allergic or have a sensitivity to shellfish. Nearly 60,000 units of the affected product have been sold in Target retail stores across the U.S. since April.

The bags all have a best-by date of Aug. 24, 2026, and list the following lot numbers under the nutrition label on the back of the packaging: L5055-1, L5055-2, L5055-3, L5055-4, L5055-5, and L5055-6. 

Those who purchased the item with the affected lot codes are encouraged to return it to Target for a full refund. 

Gooder Foods Goodles

California-based company Gooder Foods Inc. has announced a recall of two Goodles products that were sold to distributors nationwide between April 29, 2025, and Aug. 5, 2025. Five lots of Vegan Is Believin’ Plant-Based White Cheddar with Spirals are being recalled as they may contain milk that is not listed on the label. In addition, the company is recalling Here Comes Truffle Creamy Truffle Flavored Cheddar and Shells, as it may contain cashews, which are not listed on the label. The recalled lots were produced between April 7 and April 15, 2025.

Goodles Vegan is Believin’ – Plant Based White Cheddar with Spirals, Lot Codes 09725N, 09825N, 09925N, 10025N, or 10125N, best-by dates between July 7, 2026, and July 11, 2026

The company was alerted to the issue by customer feedback. At this time, eight allergic reactions connected with the recall have been reported. Those with an allergy to milk or cashews should not consume the products. Instead, the boxes should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for a refund.

Rolling Pin Baking Company Dubai Style Chocolate

On Sept. 4, Rolling Pin Baking Company, LLC. announced a health alert regarding its Dubai Style Chocolate. In a letter to Costco members, the company said that rather than listing “wheat” as an allergen, it inadvertently listed “gluten” on its allergen statement.

The affected products were sold at Costco between May 1 and Aug. 29, 2025. The item number for the recalled chocolate is 1932972, and is found above the barcode on the back label.

Those with wheat allergies should not consume the product. Costco members may throw it away or return it to the store for a full refund.

Gina Marie Bakery Cookies

Gina Marie Bakery of Waterbury, Connecticut, has recalled six varieties of cookies for undeclared allergens. The company is recalling one-pound and two-pound cookie packages that contain undeclared almonds, sesame, and Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic (FD&C) colors Red 40, Red 3, Blue 1, Yellow 5, and Yellow 6.

The affected cookies were sold in several stores around Connecticut, including Big Y Stores, Stop & Shop, Price Chopper, Adams Market, and more. In addition, the cookies were sold at all Nardelli’s Connecticut stores with a Nardelli label on the package. A full list of retailers is available on the FDA website.

No illnesses have been reported at this time; however, those with concerns should contact their healthcare provider. Those with allergies to nuts, sesame seeds, or food dyes should not consume these products. Instead, the cookies should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase for a refund.

Bianco & Sons Sweet Heat Sirloin Beef Tips

FSIS has issued a health alert for Massachusetts-based brand Bianco & Sons’ Sweet Heat Sirloin Beef Tips. The affected meat was produced on Sept. 2 and shipped to Roche Bros. Supermarkets, where it was found to have an incorrect back package label. The item contains sesame and wheat, which were not declared due to the label mix-up. The affected beef tips are no longer available for purchase, but consumers should check their refrigerator and freezer for the product.

This alert includes one-pound vacuum-sealed packages that list “Bianco & Sons Sweet Heat Sirloin Beef Tips” on the front label. The affected packages have a use-by date of Oct. 1, 2025, on the back label. Inside the USDA mark of inspection, you will see “EST. 4033.”

At this time, there have been no confirmed reports of illness due to consumption of these products, however, anyone with emerging symptoms should contact their healthcare provider. Consumers who purchased the products should throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.

Endico Brand Peas & Carrots and Mixed Vegetables

Endico Potatoes Inc. is recalling bags of frozen vegetables over concerns of Listeria contamination. The recall was announced on Sept. 4 after Listeria monocytogenes was found present during testing at a Pennsylvania distribution center. 

The vegetables were distributed in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Florida between July 18, 2025, and Aug. 4, 2025. Affected products were sold in 2.5-pound clear plastic bags with the Endico label. 

The affected products include:

Peas and carrots: Lot 110625, production date of June 11, 2025, use-by date June 10, 2027Mixed vegetables: Lot 170625, production date of June 17, 2025, use-by date June 16, 2027

Those who purchased these products should throw them away or return them to the original place of purchase for a full refund. 

At this time, no illnesses have been reported, but those with symptoms of a Listeria infection, such as vomiting, fever, and nausea, should contact a healthcare provider immediately. Additionally, those with the recalled product should thoroughly clean the freezer and any surfaces the product may have touched to avoid further contamination.
