The French wine company Les Grands Chais de France (GCF) acquires the Bordeaux négociant Maison Bouey as of October 1 of this year. Both companies announced this in a press release.

GCF is the second-largest wine producer in the country after Castel, generating a revenue of 1.3 billion euros in 2022. The company supplies its wines to around 180 countries, making it a leader in exports in France. Like GCF, Maison Bouey has also been family-run and produces around ten million bottles per year in six of its own châteaux on approximately 90 hectares. Additionally, Bouey has partnerships with over 100 other producers in Bordeaux, including Château Haut-Brion, Mouton Rothschild, Cheval Blanc, Pavie, Giscours, Léoville-Poyferré, Lascombes, and Château d’Yquem.

Since August 1, GCF and Bouey have been cooperating in production and logistics. The acquisition is expected to strengthen the market position of GCF’s subsidiaries Calvet Dulong and Crus et Domaines de France, which are also based in Bordeaux. According to the press release, Maison Bouey benefits from GCF’s modern logistics and international distribution network. In addition to packaging and storing its wines at GCF’s location in Landiras, Bouey gains access to new market segments such as Bag-in-Box, screw caps, and sparkling wines.

Even after the integration into the GCF group, the independence of Maison Bouey is to be maintained, according to the press release.
