Haven't had ice cream in a few months, so I went to try one of the limited edition flavors at Publix since I've heard good things about their store-brand ice cream.
Flavor: The base reminds me almost exactly of the artificial cinnamon apple flavor in Apple Jacks cereal. If you're a fan of that cereal, you might like the base of this. The apple pieces were a bit tart, and the pie crust didn't add much other than texture. Wished there was more of the cinnamon-brown sugar swirl throughout.
Texture: Pretty smooth and creamy. Apple pieces felt like real apple with a bit of resistance when biting through, and the pie crust held up well in the ice cream in terms of providing some differentiation in texture. Overall I enjoyed the texture of this a fair bit.
Price: Was able to snag an entire half gallon of this for $5 which is a great deal for what I felt was a solid ice cream. I'm not a fan of paying $7-$8 for a pint, so the price point on this felt great given that the ice cream tasted and felt like real ice cream.
Verdict: The base was not as good as I'd hoped, but overall a pretty solid flavor. I don't think I'd personally buy it again since I think there are a lot of better flavors out there, but I'd be happy to eat it again.
