The European Union has approved the name “Olive Oil PGI Crete / Kriti PGI”, sealing the many years of efforts of the Region of Crete in collaboration with institutional bodies and producers.
With this registration:
Olive oil must be produced and standardized exclusively in Crete.
Its authenticity and identity are ensured internationally.
Consumers obtain a guarantee of quality.
Producers and local businesses are financially supported.
The product is protected from counterfeiting and deception.
“This is a historic moment for Crete, for the people of the olive tree and for the quality that our place produces,” emphasized the Region of Crete, expressing its congratulations to all those who worked for seven years for the result.
