Against all odds, it turns out that you can, in fact, make the (already extremely fancy) affair of eating oysters even fancier. How, I hear you ask? Eating them in a swanky Mayfair restaurant, in the form of a dish that’s been specially designed by a Michelin-starred chef, which will only be available on the menu for a couple of weeks. That’s how.
Yes folks, that’s right. An oh-so exclusive dish will be landing on the a la carte menu at Bar des Prés, courtesy of the much-loved Michelin-starred chef, Cyril Lignac. This rather delicious new arrival will officially mark the arrival of oyster season, and will only be available to snap up throughout the month of September.
The dish in question features fresh Fines de Claire oysters, served with a sakura vinaigrette. The oysters have been sourced from the Marennes-Oléron basin, found on the Atlantic Coast of France. And to enhance the delicate flavour that these particular oysters are known for, Lignac has created the mouth-watering vinaigrette. Combining cherry blossom vinegar from Japan, fresh chilli, ginger, garlic, mint and olive oil; the vinaigrette highlights the oyster’s natural sweetness. Sounds pretty (oys)terrific to me…
In case you weren’t aware, Cyril Lignac is a French chef, restaurateur, and entrepreneur, with eight restaurants to his name. One of which is Bar des Prés; a Franco-East Asian restaurant, beloved for its high-quality, seasonal dishes. The limited-time-only oysters will be proudly perched on the Mayfair menu for the month of September, costing £28 for a plate of six. Bon appétit, indeed.
Cyril Lignac’s new oyster dish will be available at Bar des Prés until the end of September. You’ll find Bar des Prés at 16 Albemarle Street, W1S 4HW. Find out more and plan your visit here.
