…and it also claims it has zero sugar, even tho both sugar and brown sugar are listed in ingredients

It’s bacon grease, so I hope to god it has fat in it.

  2. lt4lyfe

Don’t care. It’s fuckin delicious. Fire up the black stone, no matter what I’m cooking the whole back yard smells like bacon.

  3. I mean it said the bacon may have been cured with it, they added no sugar. So that part isn’t really bad

  4. CelticSpoonie

It also says 0% sodium. Salt is an ingredient on the list, too.

  5. NecroJoe

That’s because it’s BaconUp. Everybody knows that BaconUp is made with more bacon per bacon than any other bacon grease brand!

  6. Asleep_Region

Legally allowed rounding, alot of chips will say 30 cals per serving then say 3 servings is 100 cals instead of 90 cals

Look at tiktacks or however it’s spelled, completely made out of sugar but 0g of sugar because it’s so little they can round to 0

And no, not trump math or whatever, this has been a thing for yearssss, the rounding should get stricter now that we automate everything, no good reason why they can’t measure the exact amount

  7. NaiRad1000

And here I though a tub of bacon grease would be healthy. Shows what I know

  8. hotdogjumpingfrog1

I swear so many companies mess with the serving size.

  9. PhyterNL

But it has zero sodium and potassium, so that’s excellent.

Love you, kidneys!!! Fuck off, heart!!!

  10. Fibrosis5O

Yo dawg gonna some ranch wit that Bacon 🆙

Let’s go, make that heart stop!

Tic Tacs are pure sugar and flavor… but because they’re under the weight limit, they can be marked as zero sugar.

Also that’s a tub of pig fat made from bacon… so yeah… it will have loads of fat because that’s what it is.

  12. AlanShore60607

Okay … this is 100% bacon fat made from bacon that was made with ingredients, so there may be trace amounts but they were not “added” and are far enough below 1% that they can be rounded to zero for nutritional value.

Like … if you dipped a candy cane in water for a few seconds, you might get some sugar but you won’t get measurable sugar. I suspect that the sugars in question “stick” to the edible part and don’t flow away with the rendered fat.

Without those ingredients, it’s lard. But those ingredients are more about the essence.

This would probably be really good for making bacon flavored bourbon using a fat washing technique

  13. Palanki96

Wait how did they make it havevmore calories? Pure oil/pork fat is around ~850 calories for 100g

  14. Humble-Search-282

Ive actually bought this off Amazon. Good stuff for cooking or adding to stuff like wild rice…dont knock it.

  15. Reasonable_Phase_312

I just wanna know why you’d ever buy it? Buy some bacon, cook kt, pour the grease into a glass jar (try an empty Prego or any sort of glass pasta jar) and voila! Bacon grease for all your needs, and bonus points if you strain it to remove the bacon flavor and create lard basically

  16. sweetb00bs

The case is 396 grams. 30 servings would be 30x13gs only 390 grams.

  17. Active_Pressure

Yeah the label makes zero sense 😂 Serving size is 13g but it somehow lists 14g of fat. That’s literally impossible since the serving can’t have more fat than total weight. The sugar thing is probably FDA rounding rules (anything under 0.5g gets rounded to 0), but the fat number is just straight up wrong.

    Bacon up that sausage, boy!

  19. Damuson13

But have you ever used bacon grease instead of butter to make a grilled cheese?

  20. Chihuahuapocalypse

    serving sizes are bullshit anyways

  21. TheAwkwardGamerRNx

I see your confusion. You are holding a 14 OZ container of bacon grease in overall total weight. You’ll see that equals 396 in grams in ()

The serving size is 1 tbsp spoon contains 14g of dietary fat.

As for sugar content, there is no ADDED sugar. As for the bacon it’s rendered from, that’s another story as the bacon used probably was cured and there’s typically sugar used in the cooking process.

  22. Sk1rm1sh

It says it has 0g sugar per serve – they’re allowed to round to the nearest gram.

If they made serving sizes 0.4g, you’d probably get a tub of fat-free lard.

  23. itsalwaysblue

The reason the cure is not in the product (salt, sugar) is that you rinse it off prior to cooking. So it just is lard. Expensive lard.

  24. SteakAndIron

Honestly this is a selling point to me

  25. Bayarea0

    That’s so fucking American I love/hate it.

  26. OriSulker

it’s only 45% of your daily value of fat per serving…

  27. Bell_Grave

this stuff is SO tasty, love it, its unfortunate you don’t know what “added sugars” means but I hope you learned!

  28. Minobull

You’re reading the ingredients wrong, the only ingredients are Rendered Bacon Fat, and BHA. All those other ingredients are contained in the bacon that was rendered and are listed as “may contain”.

  29. cerealkilla718

I’m too high to be doing math man.

  30. DrowningPickle

How does it say to prepare it? Melt bacon grease and fry the ice cream in it? That’s would make up for the extra fat.

Edit: i didn’t know it was just bacon fat. I thought it was ice cream. You can buy buckets of bacon fat? What do you use it for?

  31. Gold-Investment2335

I have this stuff. Tastes exactly like bacon fat, not sweet nor savory. Just a mildly flavored bacon fat, excellent when I was reheating brisket low and slow. Brought it back to life.

  32. commorancy0

Honestly, if you’re cooking with bacon grease, you needn’t bother reading nutrition facts labels.
