Had the chance to join a tasting at Gaja β truly a benchmark in Piedmont. Line-up included:
β’ Alteni di Brassica 2021 (Langhe Sauvignon Blanc)
β’ Barbaresco 2021
β’ Sperss 2021 (Barolo)
β’ Conteisa 2014 (Barolo)
β’ Sperss 2001 (Langhe Nebbiolo)
⒠Sorì San Lorenzo 1988 (Barbaresco)
β’ Gaia & Rey 2008 magnum (Langhe Chardonnay)
A fascinating journey across vintages and crus: from the youthful energy of 2021s to the complexity and depth of SorΓ¬ San Lorenzo β88.
For me, the 2001 Sperss really stood out β power, elegance and perfect maturity.

How in the heck did you land a tasting in Gaja? I’ve always wondered about these exclusive tastings. I’m sure it was a wonderful experience
Ah man, I was there last year and the lineup was broadly similar, *except* there was no mag of Gaia & Rey. Iβve still never tried it. Incredible place though isnβt it?
