Welcome to our channel! @DinnerinaNYHour presents an easy, basic tomato beef sauce (yields 4-5 portions) which you can update according to your tomato and pasta preferences and use this recipe time and time again. Best of all, no one will believe how quickly you made it! We usually cook this within 35 minutes (including preparation).

Our Greek touches? There is no dairy (as with bolognese). We also substitute butter with olive oil.
Oh, and we go crazy on the oregano! So for us, this is a healther home-made option.

And comment with questions- we are new to this and may have missed something!

For 4-5 portions you will need:
-2-3 tablespoons Extra virgin olive oil
-1 pound ground beef
-1 large onion chopped
-2-4 cloves garlic crushed or minced
-Your favorite box of tomato: crushed, chopped…(we prefer chopped in this case with rotini or fusilli which is thick pasta and can grab on to it nicely!)
-Salt
-Pepper
-Basil (fresh 4-5 leaves or dry 2 large pinches)
-Oregano 2+ pinches to taste
-Cooking or drinking wine you have handy- 1/3- 1/2 cup
-8 oz of your favorite pasta! We recommend: rotini/fusilli, bowties, (tri-colored rotini is also awesome), spaghetti with holes

Welcome to our first meal together- tomato beef sauce- also called “kima” in Greek- just a bit saucier! Splash your extra virgin olive oil and coat pan evenly- heat for one minute! Have your one minced onion ready- use small processor if you are not ready for the knife. Throw it in the heated oil! Garlic cooks way too fast- so we throw it in after the onion- 2-3 gloves minced or crushed with garlic press Crumble 1 pound beef in the pan and break it up! Brown the beef Boiling water for pasta in the meanwhile! Turn the beef- make sure the pink all goes away! Drain beef through strainer, leaving a little liquid Seperate in the middle and add 1/3 to 1/2 cup of wine- it can be red, white, cooking or drinking- whatever is handy! Let it cook a minute in the wine Getting 4-5 large, washed basil leaves Cut up by hand and Cook with the beef for a minute (aka sweating the basil) Salt and pepper time! We are going to go overboard on salt because our tomato box had no sodium. Salt according to your taste..and health. Remember to keep tasting your sauce throughout cooking Special ingredient time- Greek mountain oregano! Ok ok- the best oregano you can find in stores will do… add in 5,6,7 dashes! Don’t be cheap! We love Italian and Greek tomatoes- This particular Italian Pomi box has no sodium. Nothing but tomatoes! About 26 oz is plenty for 4-5 services. These are chunky. You can also use tomatoes that are crushed in puree for rotini/fusilli pasta. We love the thickness of this one. A trick is to add tablespoons of hot water into the box, to shake out any tomato that is left We love this Italian pasta! It cooks quickly. For al dente, boil 2 min less than package states. For mushier, boil to what it says. Keep the sauce boiling for 10-12 minutes and drop in 8 oz pasta. (We will save half our 16 oz bag for next time) if you see it evaporating/ getting thicker, keep adding a tablespoon of boiling water. Obsessed with mixing! We tasted it and want more oregano! Getting ready to drain the pasta- reserve a tablespoon of water and mix it in the sauce Mix it in there! What a beauty! Cover and let it cook together for two minutes We love parmesan reggiano! We bought it grated. What is your favorite cheese for pasta? Kali Oreksi! Bon Appetito!
