I know the De'Longhi Dedica EC685 is probably the most common entry level machine out there, but coming from Aeropress and Moka Pot, I'm extremely happy with the coffee it makes just out of the box.
Next upgrades are: manual grinder and bottomless portafilter. But I still have a lot to learn with the stock equipment.

Beautiful! I have a Delonghi similar. Welcome to the rabbit hole!
Nicee. You can get drastically different coffee by going with non-pressurized basket and investing in grinder
See ya at the profitec go or lelit or rancilio eventually 😂 it’s inevitable.
That steam wand looks like a fancy car exhaust
Congratulations 🎉
This was my first machine and I loved it for years. I know upgrades can be challenging and take time. Just remember – fresh coffee is a big part of the experience. Enjoy being hyper caffeinated:)
Aeropress … Moka Pot … Espresso Machine … admit it, you are hooked – down the rabbit hole 😀 Enjoy your journey!
I started with a dedica too, but I got so frustrated, that I yeeted it and got a BBE instead. I later learned, that I deeply despised the taste of dual wall espresso.
Which grinder do you have in mind?
You don’t necessarily need a bottomless portafilter, a single wall basket should be enough, at least for brewing. The main advantage of bottomless is that you can easily spot channeling.
Do you do milk drinks? If you do, I recommend you to upgrade the steam wand. There are several variants of upgrades, for some you have to take the machine apart and fot the new one, for some you just screw an alternative nozzle to the tube.
Look into it if you want, it’s a cheap upgrade.
I have the same one, it’s great! For steaming milk it’s better to take off the tube off the steamer and I also bought a bottomless portafilter. And of course other things like grinder, fresh coffee etc make HUGE difference. Enjoy the ride!
One of us! One of us!
Nice I have the same one, I recommend the bottomless portafilter I found the default one didn’t dry properly after washing it would hold water. Then I made the mistake of putting it in the dishwasher but I really like the bottomless so win win haha.
Oh a tip if your making multiple drinks I found instead of waiting for the cool down period if you open the steam valve it will exhaust the steam then you can make another shot then steam milk again. (Maybe common knowledge)
Please get un unpressurized basket, otherwise it’s not proper espresso (I think it makes something more similar to moka with a pressurized basket)
