The Argentine wine producer Catena Zapata is “World’s Most Admired Wine Brand 2025”. This award has been given by the industry magazine Drinks International for the 15th time. Catena ranks at the top for the first time since 2020.

The ranking is based on votes from a jury of 100 sommeliers, buyers, wholesalers, Masters of Wine, and trade journalists. They name five wine brands each, ranking them according to the following criteria: the stable quality of the wines, the price-quality ratio, and the brand presentation. Commitment to sustainability and social responsibility are also assessed. A part of the jury is renewed each year to ensure maximum objectivity.

Drinks International emphasizes in the winery portrait the efforts of Catena to offer “world-class wines at affordable prices” and highlights the role of winery manager Laura Catena (image), who is also a trained doctor and a sharp critic of the anti-alcohol lobby.

The winery Gaja***** from Italy rose eight places to second place, making it the highest-rated European winery. Bodega La Rioja Alta is in third place. “Screaming Eagle” from the USA and Tyrrell’s from Australia are newly represented in the ranking. Tyrrell’s is also the highest-ranked newcomer at 40th place. Sassicaia*****, which was not among the top 50 last year, has been voted seventh this year. Schloss Johannisberg**** is the only winery from Germany in 37th place, seven ranks better than in 2024.
