I have an engineer friend who lived close to her office at Amazon. She built a proofing box with Go-pro that she could monitor from her office and that would provide data to an excel spreadsheet (temp/rise etc). This was in 2008.
No. I must have a hearty starter. I feed it and leave it in the fridge for weeks. It starts back up with one feeding at room temp.

Well, I don’t know about high-tech, but if you need a proofing box, I really like folding Brod and Taylor. I suppose you could wire it for a GoPro camera.;)

I have a surveillance system that I can zoom in on at work to check on my starter, and I’ve used the playback feature to figure out in the middle of the night how many hours it take for my starter to peak! Since it’s a security system the video is time stamped. I can see that I feed it at 10:00pm and come 3:00am it begins peaking! so I know how long it takes!
