I've been using a painters tool to scrape the hell out of it. It works but it's labor intensive. Saw one guy put it in the oven on the clean cycle. I know some use foil but I'm not sure about the airflow with that. Does it work well? Thanks in advance.

Curious why you say this is lots of work? I use something similar and just move it over the outside trash can. Takes less than 5 minutes to scrape clean and it’s good for several more cooks.
Angle grinder or drill with a wire brush or scotchbrite style attachment… After that, wrap it with wide foil and you’ll never worry about it again.
I use a plastic putty knife. It will leave light marks but not as bad as a metal one.
I throw a layer of foil over it
Plastic putty knife is what I use.
I use a 4″ putty knife on my rectec, just heat it up to like 250 and turn it off to soften the crud and scoop it out into a bin.
I’m not going for *clean clean* just get the chunks off and who cares after that. Skip the foil imo, waste of money and it somehow always rips so you’re not really saving any time or effort.
Degreaser and scotchbrite
I use oven cleaner on it, then put foil over it. I do this at the beginning of the season.
I put heavy duty foil on mine. Easy cleanup. I wouldn’t bother trying to keep it looking like new. It’s a fools errand lol
Cover it in heavy duty foil, and every so often swap it out.
I scrape it with a paint scraper into my fire pit.
Scrape it when it’s hot.
