Continuing the Rick Astley Nuri series.
Nuri sardines in olive oil and lemon.

Almost forgot to do a review on this special edition Nuri’s.

First and foremost if you are in Cali be forewarned!!! I hate those warning labels especially when they put them right in the front like this.

So a little sardine smell when opened no real lemon being picked up by the nose.

4 really nice sized Nuri deens in the tin. The taste was the usual excellent Nuri quality with a bit of lemon coming through. This can does not have the most prevalent lemon flavor but it is there. If you’re someone who drenches their sardines in lemon juice these will not scratch that itch. If you are looking for a deen with just a little extra fresh lemon flavor and not just some olive oil these will be what you’re looking for.

Besides the four deens there was roughly half a slice of lemon that you could remove in big pieces with chopsticks if you are very careful. Think of trying to take the slice of carrot out of a spiced tin. Doesn’t really add much texture to the fish but increases the lemon a couple degrees.

The fish themselves were usual Nuri. Nice and easy to remove from the tin in one piece but just melts in your mouth without any indication that the spine is still in there. I will be honest I did spy a couple scales and this isn’t the first time I’ve seen them in the lemon cans. But they were only noticeable if really looking and were indistinguishable once in your mouth.

If you’re looking for a little lemon kick to go with some outstanding quality sardines give these a try.

I’ll never give Nuri up, and it’ll never let me down.

Deen on!

How do these come to have the warning? The ingredients seem clean enough.

I visited the factory in Portugal this summer and the tour was a highlight of my trip. If you ever have the fortune to visit Portugal, I highly recommend making time to take a tour.

I had these in my salad tonight! With lemon are my favorite sardines to put in salad, and these Nuris are at the top of my list. I got 6 much smaller ones in my can! That was kind of unusual… most Nuri cans I’ve opened looked more like yours.

  6. This post really got me thinking… Has anybody actually studied if the non-BPA cans actually have a lower risk of cancer? Or did the CA warning just not cover the other liner types?
