I used the King Arthur recipe, and I have no round pan so I used this rectangular one instead. I also cut with a plastic dough scraper instead of a metal one so the strands were a bit uneven. Filled it with a mix of grated cheeses instead of the raspberry cream in the original recipe. It was so soft and fluffy. My family polished it off in a day. Am planning to buy a round pan just to do it right next time lol.

  6. wonky and chonky – just how I like my bread!!

First of all, it came out exactly like you would expect from that arrangement due to the decreased rise area in the corners (more bread in the corners than on sides = not enough space to properly rise), so you get those bulges in the middle where that bread has to expand into the center due to the lack of space and competition to spread to the sides (it struggles to raise up without proper support on *both* sides).

It isnt *wonky*, its *beautiful* and *exactly* what was expected! Which I think is cool!

Second, if you care about it not being wonky in the future but make it again before obtaining the circular pan – you could either make a straight line in a loaf pan, or you can jerryrig your rectangular pan into a circular one by making a foil round pan *inside* the rectangle, then putting foil balls (you can still use the foil later by un-balling it so it isnt a waste!) into the empty space at the corners to provide support to the foil circular pan you made. Both of these methods provide structure to both sides of the bread so that it can rise up instead of out, which makes it *even softer and fluffier*.

But it really doesnt matter too much! Your bread looks great regardless!

Oh – and keep this shape in mind, I feel like in the future it could be decorated to look like a fun photo frame for an event? Like instead of an event cake, you could bring a fun sweet bread instead with an edible printed picture in the center to celebrate things? Just a fun idea!

Love it! Great job using the tools you had on hand, baker ingenuity can’t be beat. πŸ™‚

  9. I don’t think it looks wonky at all, I think it looks beautiful!

  10. That looks really good! And I just learned what wool bread while I’m sitting with my cat, knitting a wool cap for a baby shower!!!

Even if it didn’t turn out right, I think that’s such a cool recipe and I’d be so scared of attempting it! Had to look up what wool bread is, I hope when you get the right pan a clean cuts it’ll come out how it’s supposed to! How’d this one taste? Still looks really good to me and fun to rip apart

  12. I discovered wool bread and breadit, what a post! I am also going to buy a round pan to give this a whirl this weekend
