A new pizza spot is coming to Augusta Street in Greenville this fall.

Augusta Street Pizza will specialize in Roman-style pizza, which is characterized by a thinner, crispy crust. It will also offer sandwiches, pasta dishes, gelato and daily specials. Although the restaurant will focus primarily on slices, whole pies will be available for takeout and dine-in.

It will be located at 2222 Augusta St. in Augusta Commons. An exact opening date was not announced.

Owners Nick Castronuovo, Carmelo “Carmine” Curra, and Peter Lombardo are New Yorkers with Southern Italian roots. They plan to use local ingredients for house-made sauces and import flour from Italy to produce a high-hydration pizza dough, yielding a pizza with bigger air pockets. That dough will also be used to make sandwiches.

“I’ve always had a passion for cooking,” Curra said in a released statement. “Growing up, I loved watching my mother in the kitchen and following her recipes. She was born in a small town outside of Naples, and everything we do is inspired by those traditions.”
