Your mashed potatoes are dry, the asparagus is barely cooked and wood-y, lobster looks like it yearns for moisture, and your steak looks like you tried. I would still break down in tears of joy if someone cooked this for me, broken sauce or not. 8/10.

It was shitty asparagus before it was even cooked

Will get crucified for this but the asparagus looks good. Would rather thin asf than the thick chewy stalks. Sauce may be broken but my hunger isn’t. Looks delicious!

In my experience, dinner guests rate the meal much higher than the cook. It’s easy to be self depreciating when you were there every step along the way of a dish’s creation, but whoever you’re feeding only sees (and tastes) the results.
Be your own dinner guest! Appreciate the product for what it is.

Thin asparagus is the best asparagus. As it gets thicker, usually with older plants and/or later in the season, they have a more woody texture to them. You get more fiber in your mouth that won’t break down and just chews for forever.

I love asparagus but don’t bother buying it when they only have the crappy off-season stuff.
