Ingredients for Red Lentil Soup:
1 tablespoon oil
1 onion
1 carrot
1 cup red lentils
3 cups water
For the tomato paste:
1 tablespoon oil
1 tablespoon flour
1 tablespoon tomato paste
Black pepper
Red pepper flakes
1 cup water
Instructions:
1. Sauté 1 tablespoon oil and the chopped onion in a pot.
2. Once the onions are translucent, add the finely chopped carrots and sauté for a bit longer.
3. Add the washed red lentils, then add the water and cook until the ingredients are soft.
4. Puree the softened lentils and carrots thoroughly using a blender.
5. Combine the oil and flour in a suitable pan and sauté briefly. Then add the tomato paste and stir.
6. Finally, add the black pepper and red pepper flakes. Add 1 cup water for easier mixing.
7. Add the toasted flour and tomato paste to the pot and stir.
