Is this for the calories drained? undrained? I’ve been getting the name brand stuff because the label specifies that it’s 80 calories for 3oz drained – the store brand is literally half the price but doesn’t specify anything so i’m unsure on how to measure it correctly.

Good question. I track diligently but sometimes in cases like this, I have no choice. I calculate it drained.

You can check if the water is counted in the weight if you take all of the water out and weigh the rest. If it’s not counting the water, the whole can worth should be 280g
….? 5 servings per container, 50 cal/serving. 5*50 lol
Go off volume and scale it.
id guess the cals and macros would be at least somewhat similar across brands (of course there are outliers). this generic brand is 2oz = 50 cals or 1oz =25 cals, so pretty close to the name brand you refer to which is 1oz = 25 cal. I would go ahead and measure after draining
additionally, this question is similar to another question once discussed in this sub about whether bones should be counted or subtracted from the weight of chicken wings. The label in this case is giving you nutrition information on the chicken, not the water. I think it’s reasonable to used the weight of the drained chicken
56 grams drained
It’s 2 oz undrained. It says about 5 servings per container, each serving being 56g. The total weight is 283 g, including the water. So it’s 50 calories per 2 oz or 56 g undrained.
I can’t make out how many total grams it has from the angle of the picture. I ask because anything that says “about” five servings is useless to me and my compulsion to getting numbers as close to right as possible. And for me, always drained. Afterall, that water doesn’t have the same macros or calorie density as the chicken itself. Worst case scenario is you’ve overcalculated the calories (but not the protein) just a bit if it turns out numbers are for undrained.
5*50~
So realistically, it doesn’t matter that much. The numbers aren’t exact. You dont have to be exact with stuff like this strain the water weight how much you use and go off that if you want the water inclue it in the weight but realistically its not much than a miniscule few calories
250 cals
