Hi: I inherited a big egg and I noticed this cut. Is that normal is or it broken? Also, what would be a good resale value? I already have a smoker and really don’t need another grill taking up space. THX!

No, only the fire box, which is easily repaired using something like Rutland Furnce Cement or replacing altogether. You have a kamado with all stainless steel bands and stand, just replace or fix the missing parts and you have yourself a unit that’s actually better than what’s sold by the same manufacturer now. Most kamados these days all use painted steel bands and parts which rust easily. Don’t throw it away it’s a keeper.

It’s broken. The “cut” is normal. The crack at the bottom is the broken part. Shouldn’t really affect the cooking process though. As far as resale value, I have no idea. It looks really old and it’s hard to tell from the pics what size it is. Good luck though.

Yeah, the inner ring is, but it has no real impact on functionality. They all crack eventually. You don’t need to replace it.
Check Facebook marketplace in your area to see how much they are going for. Measure your grate size to see if you have a large or an extra large. You’ll probably get more of your willing to sit on it until the right buyer comes along, especially if you have a bunch of accessories.
