Two experiments in one. Laid a snake a way I've never done it for a burn time run and going to try and dry this chunk of wild pecan I cut . I'm sure both will be a fail but here goes. Start time 1 pm central

I adore a well smoked log roast.

The woody overtones of the charcoal mix with the woody undertones of the wood and you end up really tasting the wood.

I usually make a chimichurri of grass and leaves to really enhance the herbaceous, woody flavor of the wood.

I’m pining to hear the story. Wood you like to tell us more about your process? I’ve got nothing to do today – just lumbering around. 🙂

I have a buddy who sort of rejected society and moved his family to the woods. He uses exclusively dry pine wood for his cooks.

Takes 4-5 1′ long longs, throws some paper in the bottom and gets a nice little campfire going. Then we stand around and drink beer until they’re reduced to coals, he throws the top on, and then proceededs to cook over the newly made coals once the kettle is up to temp.

I was repulsed until I bit into a venison steak with a pine smoke on it.. something in my ooga-booga caveman brain really enjoyed it and now I let him handle all the cooking when we visit 😂

That amount of B&B will get really hot but this is overall interesting

Will powdered toast man be joining us to add tasty crumbs to the log?

I checked it bout 15 mins ago and it hadn’t burned past the second set of coals yet. Running at 235

Black Nitrile, peach paper, cut and squeeze. No matter how you cook this log , someone will be along to tell you that you cut it wrong, seasoned it wrong, rested it too long, or they got a great deal on a different cut at Costco.
    I appreciate your effort.

Well guys and gals. The dumbest post I have ever made has definitely got the most attention. Got several good laughs out of this. I’ll keep y’all informed on how long the irregular snake burns.
