  1. Little Italy is an Italian-themed disneyworld attraction.

    This is a tourist-trap moneygrab.

Better to go to Arthur Avenue and have a proper feast.

  3. Lumpy_Football400

Sorry OP for all the hate. Enjoy yourself.

I like the Feast, it’s just that the last time I went it was sooooo crowded. Like panic-inducing levels of people – and I like people!

  5. Butter_Man

Can’t wait to pay 15 dollars for a sausage link on bread, served like it’s better than you.

If you’re not from here, stfu about San Gennaro . You’re not “cool” to hate on it.

  7. PM_ME_MASTECTOMY

Shout out to the mozzarepa stands that for reason are part of the Italian festival

Will this be the third year in a row I attend and buy nothing because of the high prices?

San Gennaro is washed as hell nowadays, but if you’re ridiculous enough to try, here’s some real advice from someone nearby:

    * Yes, you’re gonna wait in line, but be for real – you’re only going to have two or three things there anyway. Portions are often generous (not always, but often). A bit of a wait won’t kill you.
    * All of the cheese wheel pastas are mid. If you desperately need one for some insane reason, just do the cheapest one.
    * The more “local” the zeppoles look, the better they are. The one with the guy’s face that are usually on Mulberry/Grand are the best IMHO.
    * Sausage and peppers, plus bracciole will be acceptable quality literally anywhere. Bracciole is underrated, so if you gotta pick between the two, do that.
    * Steak and cheese stand on Mulberry/Grand is fantastic, but I think it’s overpriced nowadays, sadly.
    * Lucy’s has a guy who loves touting a MAGA hat in the big one on Mulberry. Make of that what you will.

There’s also one really good stand I totally forgot the name of that had zero line, was perfectly fine in value, and tasted delicious, but I gotta make my obligatory trip out there tonight to recall. Will report back.

Why is everyone in this thread such a hater?

If you grew up here, especially downtown, you’ll likely be going down there and having a blast… just like every other year.

    Not everything is so serious.

Yeah, a lot of the food is not the same as it was 20yrs ago, but neither is anything here.

Sometimes “good food” is just wanting to eat some fried shit and hopefully bump into old acquaintances.

    SMH.

I went for 1 reason. Skinny Joey’s cheesesteaks. I highly recommend. It’s a lot of meat and cheese. Probably best to split if you want to eat anything else.

  13. Revolutionary-Bet683

Ooh I want to go. Nice opportunity to experience Italian American food and Catholic culture.

  14. Am I the only one who walks around every year, socializes with friends THEN goes INSIDE one of the restaurants to actually eat??????

  15. I don’t care how corny and full of scams the feast is. Yeah it’s crowded but that’s what it’s about. Just a bunch of people coming together to enjoy the culture and, if you know the right spots, the food. Yeah it’s overpriced and dirty but so is everything else in NY that ain’t new.

  16. CaptDrunkenstein

    Jesus Christ these comments

OP how long does it run for?

  17. boywonder5691

The feast lost a lot of its appeal when they got rid of that dude that would insult people while letting them try to knock him off a stand and into a pool. He was effing great

  18. I always go sat like 11am when it opens. Eat everything we want and by 1pm it’s packed and we get out.

  19. Interesting_Ad1378

I grew up going to the 18th avenue feast.  I remember walking back and forth multiple times like it was the best place to be.

  20. DNorthman

I always go for 3 things:

Sausage and peppers, meatballs, and fried calamari.

The key is to go on a weekday early when everything is fresh and there’s not wall to wall people.

  21. Queenfan1959

It’s nothing like it used to be, but enjoy it

  22. leeharveyteabag669

Damn. Lucy is still slinging the sausage.

  23. Theairthatibreathe

Just not the same without Vinny…

  24. ragazzzone

I like to go for the procession and a rice ball and bounce

  25. masterkenobi

Lived here for a very long time and I always saw the festival as peak bridge and tunnel / tourist event with incredibly mediocre expensive food. But after just coming back from visiting South Korea a week ago and hitting up the Myeungdong night market a couple of nights, I cannot express how much more of a disappointment the Festival is in comparison.

ummm might be an unpopular opinion but by just looking at her long nails with bare hands filling the food i lost my appetite 🥹🥹🥹
