Old Town Alexandria’s boutique community is growing again! Foodies and olive oil aficionados will want to take note of a new gourmet shop, Georgetown Olive Oil Co., that has put up signage on a window front at 1314 King St.
The location was formerly home to the S.L. Blake and Company clothing company, which has a flagship store in Delray Beach, Fla.
Georgetown Olive Oil Co. describes itself as “an international tasting gallery and shop specializing in freshly sourced olive oils and aged balsamic vinegars. More than 60 flavors are available for free daily tastings. Our build-your-own flavor pack is a must for dedicated foodies. Also available are gifts for all occasions, authentic Italian ceramics, art and handmade pottery, small batch pastas, gourmet sea salts and more.”
The store currently lists a distribution center and showroom at 4719 Eisenhower Ave. #A in Alexandria and a previous location in Georgetown. The location is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 12 noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
Some of its olive oils originate in Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal and Morocco. Other items for sale include barrel-aged balsamic vinegar, black truffle rosemary sea salt, a large variety of loose-leaf teas, pure raw honey and Italian pottery.
