I never tried it but it doesn’t make me want to try it.

  2. Justin_Sideme

    I mean it’s still Kingsford right so that’s something…..

  3. Capamerica88

I think $7 for most anything is worth it, but I would probably only buy 2 or 3 bags you can get b&b $9 all day long

  4. Marco_Forelli

I’d grab it for that price. At my Walmart, a bag of kingsford usually runs around $10.

Not sure how “made with real beer” will matter since I light them in a chimney and wait til they’re fully ignited to drop them into the grill

  5. key1234567

Pass, I have seen these specials for $3

  6. clackalackin

Smash for 1 at least to make sure you like it. I use Miller Lite in my water smoker and I like the taste. It’s not too strong. It’s a gimmick but at this price I can save on putting the beer into the smoker.

  7. rogueop

I’d go for it. I’ve tried their old “hickory” version that looked a lot like this, and I didn’t notice any hickory flavor.

I noticed they have a newer product that claims to have a actual, visible pieces of *something* in it, but I haven’t tried that one.

  8. ReluctantRedditor275

It’s a stupid gimmick, but it probably won’t hurt, and for that price, I’d definitely grab it.

  9. hurtfulproduct

Is that cheaper or more expensive then a bag of normal charcoal in that store? If it’s cheaper then absolutely smash! If not, then pass! That’s just a gimmick, no reason to actually expect them to add beer flavor to your food, but hell, if it cooks and is cheaper then normal then go for it

  10. maniacal_monk

For 7 bucks I’d try it. At the end of the day charcoal is charcoal

  11. pppalafox

I bought it because there were no lump. It actually works great. I use less than what I expected. It hold the heat pretty well.

  12. goofust

Smash, just because of the good price. But maybe only a couple of bags to try it out.

  13. cerberus1090

I would try it for $7, though I’m not sure why you would soak charcoal in water before drying it and selling it….

  14. GratefulGolfer

I got this on accident. The beer had zero impact at all in terms of flavor or smell. However, it burned better than normal Kingsford for me. In fact, I prefer it over regular as the only difference I noticed was it performing better. I actually am on the fence on even posting this as to keep it a secret so I can snatch up all the cheap bags 😂

  15. DeepwoodDistillery

I assume that the spent grains from the brewing process are added to the coal somehow. Not sure how that impacts its flammability but probably makes the charcoal a little cheaper. Think of it like adding rice to a beer, or ethanol to gasoline: it’s a cheap additive that probably works but won’t have a noticeable difference

  16. Rude_Blackberry634

Grab it. It’s a good deal when it’s close to $1 per pound

  17. Many_Consequence7723

All day long! Thats a decent price. I bought a bag and it worked just fine.

  18. Absered

    Lump is de wey.

Someone brought me a spare bag of briquets and I pray I will never have to open it.

Mostly because of flavour, but also my offset grill/smoker doesn’t generate enough heat for grilling with briquets.

  19. ICanOutP1zzaTheHut

I’ve been buying them since they’re on sale. Absolutely no difference that I’ve noticed

  20. biggranny000

I used it, didn’t notice much difference in taste but I like the charcoal itself. $7 is very cheap for charcoal. I usually buy it on sale, no need to buy it at full price when there’s sales all the time.

Many stores are going to clearance and discoun their summer stuff in favor of seasonal winter, so look out for deals. I saw some grills marked up to 80% recently.

  21. Bigred19D

I thought that this cross branding was more of a I’m gonna drink Miller lite when I grill because something just reminded me of Miller lite. Miller brewing also figured social media would pick up on this and considered it as free advertising as well.

  22. Wintonwoodlands

Smash around where I live they are pushing 12 for one of those bags

  23. kipdjordy

I’d pass, I just load up on b&b every memorial day or 4th of july.

  24. ossifer_ca

Miller Lite? Do they have any better beer charcoals?

  25. Mysterious_Medium803

When you can’t get the Kingsford competition… Get this and see how u like it.

  26. Acrobatic_Band_6306

It is a gimmick but totally a bargain. Back up the truck.

  27. UnprovenMortality

I doubt it would taste any different, but at $7/bag I’m getting a trunk full.

  28. Smooth_Buy_1120

Smash because of price only. Quality isn’t great.

  29. armyofant

Pass. Usually the special stuff burns way faster than the regular stuff

  30. Jolly_Green_Giant78

$6.99 a bag is a good price. I’d smash. Even though I think it’s a gimmick, but I’d buy at 6.99 a bag, not the full retail price.

  31. Chef_Nicko

Pass. Personally I use Mesquite or Oak.

  32. sdouble

I buy charcoal if it’s sitting around $0.50/lb almost every time.

    Smash.

  33. xandrellas

I’m finding that most retailers are pricing their lump or briquettes at more than $1/lb. That is banana pants to me. Academy has 17.6lbs of B&B briquettes for $9.99. I like lump charcoal in my drum smoker and as a coal bed starter for my offsets business-wise but phew 35 bux for 20lbs of some lump brands is just gnarly.

(Edit to fully answer your question) its charcoal, its cheap, smash it.

  34. emc5280

What store is this? I’d like to see if i can find this deal locally – I tried this beer coal and thought it worked fine, no different than regular Kingsford really which all I generally use.

  35. WWGHIAFTC

    On principle alone, No.

I have no room in my life for bad beer in any form, at any price.

  36. strangewayfarer

I went through the entire bag in one sitting and I wasn’t even a little buzzed. Also my teeth are jet black now. I would pass, even at this price.

  37. Old_Barnacle7777

Pass. This just looks stupid. I don’t want to think about the stuff that Kingsford infused their briquettes with so that it would smell mildly of piss beer. Then again, there might be a natural substance involved but it would involve a lot of people drinking beer.
