Pretty new to the world of grilling, but I recently got a vortex. Other than wings I couldn’t think of what else to do with it. Tonight I made chicken meatballs and I thought to myself, “man I love grilled meatloaf, I wonder if grilled meatballs would be good.”
Cooked them direct for 1.5 min each side then put around the ring for 10 minutes with some apple wood.
Then put the cast iron in the middle with some marinara. After 160 degrees I put the meatballs in the sauce with cheese for 5 minutes.
My kids, including the toddler, ate it all!

    This looks great!

Here are some other things you can cook with the vortex: chicken thighs, steaks, hot and fast ribs, chicken legs, hot dogs, hamburgers, the list goes on. It’s good for pretty much anything you want two zone cooking for. I’ve also been wanting to try it with a wok for stir frying but haven’t had the chance yet.

Try cooking up peppers, tomatillo, tomatoes, onions, garlic in the cast iron for salsa and cook your Carne on the outer ring at the same time. Once you get the salsa going while the Carne is finishing off, heat up them tortillas!

Nice! I have a new appreciation for my cast iron pans after using them over charcoal

    Was hoping this was Shakshouka.

Smoked Skakshouka is a great idea I plan on trying now!
