Some of you guys might remember my post from yesterday asking if $50 was a good price for a Traeger Bronson 10526 I think is the model. I ended up buying it but I definitely have my work cut out for me before I can consider it usable. I tested it briefly by turning it in and setting the temp to 275ยฐ and watched it climb to 300ยฐ but thatโ€™s all I really did.

For starters, how would one go about cleaning the grate, that piece that goes inside of the smoker, and the actual interior of the smoker itself? Iโ€™m also curious how one would remove that pellet box in order for me to clean it and fill with new pellets. And finally, whatโ€™re just some general maintenance and upkeep tips you guys would have for one of these? You guys are all awesome and I appreciate you convincing me to buy this awesome machine.

Thank you!

(Iโ€™ll also happily take any recipes you guys want to share)

Hey! It looks like you posted an image!

If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques
used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!

    *What seasoning did you use?

*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?

*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?

    Traeger on!

soak rusty parts in a water and vinegar mixture overnight. Either scrub with steel wool after or use an angle grinder with a wire wheel.
If youre trying to take apart the hopper, just get a screwdriver and start taking things apart. They are fairly simple things. Just be careful of wires to the controller.

It actually looks pretty good. Don’t worry about cleaning it too much itll get dirty again. I would vacuum inside and wipe some with Citrusafe BBQ Grill and Grate clean. Spend more time scraping and cleaning drip tray but as much as you will try to use foil and keep it clean it’ll get dirty again. It’s also prob warped, that’s common

You have to let the temp settle once it starts getting hot it’s gonna overshoot the set temp until it gets the drum up to temp just takes time especially with the older controller they run pretty hot during startup it just dumps pellets for a set time even after the flame has lit. I’d make sure it did hold temp before cleaning everything to make sure the controller and temp probe is still working as it should. The hopper should have a thumb screw and a sliding door on the backside to dump the pellets.

Yeah just surface rust. The drip tray is easy just soak in degreaser and like another comment i use heavy duty foil on mine to keep clean, may need the bigger size but much easier to clean by taking off foil instead of scraping every time i do a cleaning. I just replaced my firepot yesterday in minutes with stainless steel on after 9 years of no issues so definitely parts available. Really just clean best you can with steel wool and i use a small steel wire brush to get clean and definitely a steel putty knife does wonders. Put back together and burn for an hour and all good.
