Good brisket is worth a lot but not your sanity. Missed working at a Jewish deli. That montreal smoked meat still haunts my dreams.
Good luck on the next. And you can always go back and eat brisket. I don’t get why people are afraid to go back to places they quit, those bitches aren’t your boss anymore. You’re their guest.

Inconsistent management I can live with, but flat mountain dew that’s where I draw the line.

This tells me that this employee has had enough with how management & team has no communication with each other. Also employee is one of the hard working employees that has had enough with the synergy of the workplace. I was one of them from another company and I would do the same. The mountain dew is flat or drive thru speaker needs to be fixed.

I would have let you go because you didn’t want flat Mountain Dew. And other stuff.

This is one of my pet peeves in kitchens. It makes it so difficult for staff when the managers aren’t communicating well with one another. It’s so annoying as a cook and a chef to see it happen or experience it first hand.

i HATE being the resident whipping boy. some days my managers are just like “(NAME)!!!! GO DO THIS!!!” and 3 seconds later another manager asks me to do something completely different

I actually walked out mid shift last week for the first time in around 15 years in the industry. At first i felt like shit but you’re right, sometimes its just not worth it.

I just quit a foh management position because of the drama. Completely unreal and worse than my high school.
Financially not the best move but mentally i wish I did it sooner

And you know my man was shouldering all the nonsense of the night UNTIL that Mountain Dew was flat. The straw that broke the camels back, I get it. Lol

One of the few jobs I walked out on:
I’m working the grill, manager, drunk, comes out of the bar long enough to tell me to put up the food delivery. I manage to get both jobs done without any refires. Put the one gallon plastic jars of blue cheese dressing in dry storage as they are clearly shelf stable, delivered at room temperature and labeled ‘refrigerate after opening’.
Next day he come in and reems me out for not putting them in the walk-in. Rants that I have ruined the product and cost the restaurant hundreds of dollars. I point out the labels. He backtracks and verbally fumbles around long enough for me to take off my apron and tell him to call someone else to work my shift.
