(14F) I never bake by myself but I tried making some cookies. By the looks of it, did I do anything wrong? (Brutal honesty)

those cookies look like they have a great personality
peonies_envy
They won’t brown completely evenly. Those look great!
tumbleweedreid88
There’s nothing wrong with these cookies, honey. They look fine. They didn’t spread. They don’t look greasy. They aren’t burned. I mean, put them in a shop window and see how many you sell. I’m buying one. 🤤
sophiekittybone
They look great! I’ll be right over with the milk 🥛to help!
lmuf23
They look great!! But are they tasty? That’s the most important thing! Good job and keep it up, it’s also fun to try some different recipes to find ur fav kind of texture. 😁
astra823
They look a bit cakier than some people prefer (higher ratio of flour) but not discolored at all and certainly look delicious! Nice job OP
Griffie
The only thing you’ve done wrong is not eating them all! Amazing looking cookies!
paperandtiger
It’s tough to say just by looking at the outside but I think it looks really good! I would guess the inside is nice and soft. It’s really hard to say if you did something wrong without knowing what you were going for (like if you wanted chewy, crispy, soft, brown butter, etc) but overall this looks like something I’d inhale rn if it were in front of me
DadsRGR8
Yummy! 👍
Optimal_Soup373
I love a cakey cookie! Good job!
NYmovieGIRL
Break down what you did and we’ll figure it out. Flour type? Fat? Sweetener? Temperature? Time?
cinnaminimoon
Looks mostly good! Next time you want to make sure the dry ingredients are nice and sifted, no lumps or crystals. Blending well is also important. But again, very good job here!
Apprehensive-Dog6997
I’ve been a pastry chef for over 20 years, and I’d love to eat those, and be proud to sell them. Great job, young person!
DesertIbu
That is a picture perfect chocolate chip cookie that you’d find in a cookbook or magazine! Well done!!! 😋
Ms_Insomnia
Those look like they slap
kennymo12
Former pastry chef here, those are EXACTLY the way I like them. Slightly underdone, they stay a bit chewy for days. 10/10 would crush 5 or 6 lol. Rock on!!
MollieUbriacco89
They look amazing! Good for you for doing that on your own. How did they taste?
ACheetahSpot
That looks like my perfect kind of cookie. Pure heaven, right there!
ahriskywalker
Omgosh these look so tasty! They didn’t spread out too far, they don’t look greasy. They look absolutely great!
One of the best tricks my grandma taught me when baking cookies is always pull them out when they look like they’re RIGHT on the edge of being done, because they continue to cook a little bit as the tray cools before you can remove them! It helps be sure you get a perfect chewy yummy cookie!
AnArisingAries
The only thing “wrong” is that I’m not eating them.
Jokes aside, it looks great!
Irishpanda1971
Looks fine to me. In the end, even if the look isn’t what you expect, you still have something tasty.
stevestrawberry
Looks just like the choccy chips my grandma used to make and that I make in her footsteps.
If you want them less puffy, just use less flour! 💛
dallasdls
Those look so good! Now I want some cookies! Great job and keep playing around with baking, it’s so much fun and my fav hobby
Fangirl23
Those look great. They’re not flat, they have a good color, and obvious that you measured things correctly. Keep it up girl!
oatymocha
Uh yeah..by not offering us any.
limonade11
Listen here young pup! these look great and I would like a couple so, you know – just hand them over ok? And the milk, don’t forget that glass of milk there.
14 is a good age to start baking, just keep going !!
NotDaveButToo
By the looks of it I WANT SOME OF THOSE COOKIES
katieorgana
I don’t like cookies very much and even I want to try them, so you did great imo!
South_Recording_3710
Eat and see if you like it.
I prefer a more fluffy cookie.
QueenMabs_Makeup0126
Pass them over to me and I’ll taste test them for you.
Seriously, they look great!
HottieMcHotHot
They look similar to the Levain chocolate chip cookies which are my absolute favorite. I would eat this up!
fyghtnyght
It looks big and delicious!!
lovely_orchid_
They look yummy
Zippity19
Cookies will continue to bake while cooling on the pan.Don’t be afraid to underbake them a little.I remove them when they are golden on the bottom and dry on top. They look perfect to me.
Triguntri
This looks like a perfect cookie, that when warm enough, would have a delicious stretch of chocolate like a perfect grilled cheese sandwich. Perfectly size, thickness, and chewy for a dunk into some cold glass of milk.
The color is wonderful and I can already tell that the bottom is this nice golden color with some butter grease.
You did an amazing job, sweetie! I really hope you enjoyed this experience and you want to continue experimenting with other techniques and recipes. Baking is a real talent and it is a wonderful way to show your love to others by sharing these delights with them.
Bakingsquared80
They look great! A tip to make them more enticing is to hold back some chips from the dough and put them on top of the mounds right before they go in the oven
strywever
That looks so yummy! Did it live up to appearances?

Those look so good
Even_Brother_9690
Does it taste great. Then it is. You are the beholder
dripping_tea
These look like you baked them for the truly perfect amount of time. What is the texture like?
Blue_Collar_Leo
Those look terrific. As a pastry chef, my only advice would be find a cookbook and follow the recipe. But don’t be discouraged if you make mistakes. Find out what went wrong, correct it, and bake on. It looks like you are heading in the right direction. Keep going!
Even_Brother_9690
It is great and you baked it

It is great that you are asking for feedback. In my house I have two daughters (11 & 12). I have always asked for a number from 1-10 for most dishes that I make and ask for one thing I could do better. They have learned to do the same. It is a great quality to be objective and not get your feelings hurt by the feedback. This helps you experiment and learn each and every time. I have also learned to read the tips and tricks sections of a recipe so I can continue to learn. (43m). You cookies look great. I have multiple chocolate chip cookie recipes. Cakier ones(like yours) or flatter one that I pull out half way through the bake and bang them on the counter. I also have 3 sugar cookies recipes. Learn techniques then experiment with recipes. I like to document what I liked and dislike in my OneNote for that recipe. Good luck and keep baking!
CelebrationOk8136
It looks amazing to me! Yummo!!
MoonAndStarsTarot
Those look like really nice, chewy, soft chocolate chip cookies! I would definitely buy some from a bakery if they were on sale.
You did great for a first attempt (assuming here) at baking! Be very proud! Cookies are deceptively hard to master.
Moron-Whisperer
I personally wouldn’t be satisfied with these cookies but I’ve been baking for 30 years now. As someone new they are fine. I think the next step for you is to taste it then figure out what you’d want to change. Maybe crisper, chunkier, chewier, or something else. Then research how to modify your recipe. There are a ton of variations of chocolate chip cookies out there.

Brutal honesty:
It is never healthy or useful to ask for brutal honesty. Especially when you’re young. The people who you would want it from would give it to you anyways and the people you don’t want it from shouldn’t get an invitation.
Also your cookie looks amazing and I want one.
Tofuhousewife
Looks great! All cookies are good cookies
Just-pickone
All that matters is that you think they taste good. If they satisfy you, that is all that matters.
