Smoked my first brisket yesterday on my recteq. Burnt ends came out alright. I don't think i put them on high long enough to get that crispy outside on all sides, but the actual brisket itself was amazing 👌

Is that half a brisket?

Is this just a piece of the brisket?

Look at all that unrendered fat

OP, what did you learn?

Looks great, could use a bit more bark but I’d eat the heck outta that! With practice you’ll get better for sure. I’ve been smoking meats for a long time and I screw one up every once in a while lol. They don’t come out perfect all the time.

Curious to know what temperature you pulled it at? I know the first time I did a brisket, I got a little impatient and pulled at 190+ thinking it was close enough, but that extra 10-15 degrees makes a huge difference with brisket.

Yep, that’s a brisket and some brisket pieces.

Fat looks white yet. Should have a yellow hue to it. Thats how you know is fully rendered

proud of you my man! Brisket can be daunting for a multitude of reasons. It takes trial and error to get these things right and even more so depending on what kind of smoking gear you own. Its all for the love of smoking though so as long as youre having fun. I can’t try it obviously but this *could* have looked so much worse so good job! For a beginner I’d say you’ve got a solid 6/10 here for a first time. Brisket *can* be very involving but theres a lot of tools nowadays to make it fairly simple too
